Set-up FAQ
What is the set-up process I must go through from start to finish?
The following is the typical EnterGroup set-up process. As your needs may be different, your set-up may vary from the following. No matter what your needs are, you will receive your proper set-up instructions via email after you successfully register.
Set-up Process:
- You must first successfully register for the service in which you are interested.
- After you register, EnterGroup will complete its part of the set-up which includes making configurations to host your email on our servers.
- After this is complete, you will receive a welcome email with your account id, set-up instructions and admin information.
- You will then need to make your DNS changes at the place where your domain name is hosted.
- You can also open up any mailboxes @ your-domain via your admin control panel.
- Once your correct DNS changes are fully propagated [updated] on the Internet, you will be ready to use your email.

What am I required to have in order to get set-up?
You are required to have the following in order to get set-up:
- you need to own or have the ability to administer a domain.
- you need to have your domain name hosted somewhere.
If you bought a domain and it is just 'parked' with your registrar, you will need to have your domain name hosted somewhere. If you have or will have Web site hosting, domain name hosting will usually be included in the package. If you currently do not have Web site hosting or will not have Web site hosting, EnterGroup can host your domain name.

What is my part in the set-up process?
The set-up process involves both you and EnterGroup. Your part of the set-up is the following:
- You must make DNS changes to your domain. These changes normally include: modifying your MX record and creating a host for your domain, pointing to our IP address.
- You will need to open your mailboxes through your online admin control panel.
- If you will have EnterGroup brand your Web mail site to your look and feel, you will need to fill out a form with your branding info and submit your logos.
The only way for you to have your email hosted by a 3rd party like EnterGroup is if you complete the above set-up.

Where do I change my DNS information?
You will need to change your DNS information at the location of where your domain name is hosted. If you have a Web site or Web site hosting, your domain name is usually hosted with your Web hosting company.
If you have told EnterGroup to host your domain name you will not need to make DNS modifications. If EnterGroup is hosting your domain name, you will need to modify your name servers with your domain registrar [we will send you instructions regarding this if applicable].

If EnterGroup is hosting my domain name, what do I need to set-up on my part?
If you have specified for EnterGroup to host your domain name, you will need to modify your name servers with your domain registrar [we will send you instructions regarding this if applicable]. You will not need to make any DNS changes.
If you have a Web site or Web hosting, most likely we will not be hosting your domain name and you will need to make the normal DNS modifications that you will receive in your set-up email.

How do I set up email accounts, administrators, forwarding and other similar items?
After you successfully register, you will receive a welcome email with your account id, set-up instructions and admin information. Your admin info will include the URL of your admin site and your login details. As soon as you receive this information, you will be able to enter your admin panel and open new mailboxes, set-up forwarding, etc...
IMPORTANT: If you currently have and use email addresses @your-domain and are switching from another email provider to EnterGroup, we advise you to set-up your mailboxes as soon as possible in order to ensure that you do not lose any emails in the transfer of email hosts.

How do I make sure I don't lose emails when I am getting set-up?
If you currently have and use email addresses @your-domain and are switching from another email provider to EnterGroup, we advise you to set-up your mailboxes before you make your DNS modifications in order to ensure that you do not lose any emails in the transfer of email hosts.

What is the MX Record and why do I need to modify mine?
Your MX Record basically defines who handles the email for your domain. If you want EnterGroup to host your email, you will need to set your MX Record according to the DNS set-up information we provide you in the welcome email we send you. When you set your MX Record according to our instructions, our servers will then be responsible for handling your email!

What is a host and why do I need to set one up?
A host can be 'www' , 'mail' , 'webmail' , or any other word that you add to your domain. When you add the host 'www' to your domain and point it to your IP address, your users will go to your site when they type in http://www.your-domain
Now, you need to choose where your Web mail site will be located. The most common host is 'mail'. When you set-up your selected host name, such as 'mail', you will also need to point it to one of our IP addresses that we provide you in your welcome email. So when your users go to http://mail.your-domain, they arrive to your Web mail site.
Even though you create the host for your domain, it is pointed to our servers. This means that when your users go to http://mail.your-domain, they are actually accessing our servers. Your Web mail site physically sits on our servers and is hosted by us. There is no extra charge for this - it is part of the price of your email package.

- Your DNS changes were not made correctly. Please contact your EnterGroup Account Exec to verify that your changes have been made correctly.
