Is my admin login and password also an email address?
No, your admin user ID is not also an email mailbox user ID. It is not recommended that you use the same username and password for your admin area as for an email account.

I try to open up some mailboxes but it says that the addresses are locked - why?
By default EnterGroup locks certain important administrator related email addresses so they will not be opened by someone who is not supposed to have access to one of those addresses. If you try to open an address and it is locked, please contact EnterGroup and we will unlock it for you.

What is a manager and what does it mean to set permissions?
A manager is someone that can enter your admin area. You can create as many managers as you like to administer your email.

When you create a new manager, you have the ability to set permissions for that manager. When you give a manger permission for a certain feature, s/he will be able to access that feature and fully perform the action related to the feature. For example you can make a sales representative in your company a manager and give him/her permission only to add/delete/edit mailboxes.

What information can be found in the Statistics Interface?
The statistics interface provides two types of statistical information about your email site: Web usage statistics and database statistics.

Web usage statistics will give you information regarding your email site's traffic. For example, view your traffic rates according to the hour, day, week and month, the pages from which your users enter and exit your site and much more.

Database statistics provide you with information collected upon your user's email account sign-up. Enquire with your EnterGroup Sales representative to customize the registration form to the user demographics you want to collect.

Why should I use the Statistics Interface?
  • Monitor your site:
The statistics interface allows you to monitor the activity of your site by providing you with the following information: the total number of email accounts, the number of new accounts opened, the amount of traffic your site produces, and more.

  • Know your users:
Knowing your userbase is an invaluable asset for all businesses. For example, you can learn about the locations of your users, gender splits, age groups, etc...

From information of this sort, you can, for example, know if you have penetrated your target audience or not. If you are not reaching your market, you can use this information to find weak spots and lower your customer acquisition costs.

  • Results:
After you launch a big marketing campaign or make strategic changes in your strategy, the statistics interface is where you can see the actual results of your investments. View your results by analyzing your traffic during specific timeframes, the number of new sign-ups, or any other criteria that you expect to vary.

How is the statistical data presented?
Your statistics are presented in both numerical tables and multi-color graphs (in .png format). This multi-faceted presentation enables you to view exact numbers while also facilitating data comparisons between two different time segments.

How is the statistics interface structured?
The interface is divided into two main parts:

  • The main statistics page, which displays:
    • yearly statistics.
    • the total number of email accounts.
    • monthly summaries for the current year.
    • links to the monthly statistics pages.

  • The monthly statistics pages - there is a different page for each month containing the following in-depth data:
    • monthly, daily and hourly web usage/traffic.
    • the number of accounts opened on a daily basis.
    • user demographics based on your registration form
    • URL data such as entry and exit pages of users at your email site, sites (unique IP addresses of users) and referring addresses.

What do the fields mean in the usage graphs?
Usage graphs consist of all or some of the following fields:

  • Hits - Any request made to the EG server, which is logged, is considered a 'hit'. The requests can be for anything - html pages, graphic images, audio files, CGI scripts, etc... Each valid line in the server log is counted as a hit. This number represents the total number of requests that were made to the EG server during the specified report period.

  • Files - Some requests made to the EG server require that the server send something back to the requesting client such as a html page or graphic image. When this request response occurs, it is counted as a 'file' [this number is incremented]. The relationship between 'hits' and 'files' can be thought of as 'incoming requests' and 'outgoing responses'.

  • Pages - Any HTML document or anything that generates an HTML document served from an EG server would be counted as a page. Other stuff that goes into a document, such as graphic images and audio clips are not counted as a page!

  • Sites - Each request made to the EG server comes from a unique 'site', which can be referenced by a name or ultimately, an IP address. The 'sites' number shows how many unique IP addresses made requests to the EG server for your email site during the reporting time period. This DOES NOT mean the number of unique individual users (real people) that visited, however, this number might be about as close as you will get.

  • Visits - Whenever a new request is made to the EG server from a given IP address (site), the time difference between the new request and the previous request is calculated (if any). If the time difference is greater than a 'visit timeout' value (or has never made a request before), it is considered a 'new visit' and incremented to the total (both for the site, and the IP address). The timeout value is 30.

This 'Visits' value provides you with a good indication of the number of unique visitors that come to your site during the specified reporting period.

  • Kbytes - The KBytes (kilobytes) value shows the amount of data, in KB, that was sent out from the EG server during the specified reporting period. Because this value is generated directly from the log file, it should be a fairly accurate representation of the amount of outgoing traffic the EG server outputs for your email site. (Note: A kilobyte is 1024 bytes, not 1000)
